ID 1000 magazine
As part of the ID1000 project, NYT also created a printed publication that researched into the local histories and stories of the four chosen regions. This was a task for journalist, Dylan Potter. Dylan followed the ID1000 trail and on his way recruited 24 budding secondary school writers. Their job was to research the heritage and history of their particular area and transcribe their findings in a fun and inventive way.
This accumulated in the rather glossy magazine entitled ID1000; The Journey. And what a journey that was. These journalists wrote about everything they could lay their hands on, from the first ever aeroplane to the tragic tale of Pocahontas.
So whether it’s Chaucer you’re into or exploring the remnants of the Titanic, Dylan and his team have included it all. Maybe you’d like to learn more about the infamous Gunpowder Plot, or is it Tolkein’s Morior that takes your fancy?
You’ll honestly be blown away by the creativity of these young writers and the wealth of interesting heritage that can be found in such familiar places as Kent and Cumbria.
